The weekly photo challenge this week is to present photos that represent “habit”.  I actually have two ideas coming quickly to my mind.  This post will be all about the habitual force of nature.

Noting in nature is more predictable than the Old Faithful geyser in Yellowstone National Park.  Old Faithful erupts approximately every 90 minutes and each eruption lasts between 90 seconds to more than 5 minutes.  We visited Yellowstone in July of this year and, there it was, Old Faithful true to form on a magnificent blue sky day.

The eruption cycle itself is quite habitual.  When not erupting, Old Faithful is just a lot of hot steam.  But as the pressure builds deep in its earthly plumbing, the geyser gives you plenty of warning of its impending skyward thrust of boiling hot water with a few rounds of gurgles and sprays.  At its climax, the eruption reaches…
